Arpa Industriale won the "Piemonte Creative Award" for its Bloom Technology for FENIX NTM® and Arpa® HPL.
"Bloom is a lignin-based technology created by Arpa Industriale and Nemho, the R&D department of the Group that the company is a part of," says Sandro Marini, communication director of Arpa Industriale. “It was developed to increase the use of natural raw materials in the core of Arpa surfaces and FENIX NTM materials. Innovation, design, and sustainability are the fundamental factors on which the design of each new material within our Group is based."
Bloom was created to increase the use of natural raw materials in the core of Arpa high quality surfaces and FENIX NTM innovative materials. Arpa’s products are made up of paper and thermosetting resins based on phenol. With Bloom, lignin technology is introduced to significantly reduce the amount of phenol included in the resin by 50%.
Lignin, the world’s second most abundant natural polymer in the world after cellulose, is defined as the glue that holds wood fibres together. Normally used by the pulp industry to produce energy, its use in thermosetting resins is innovative.
